Marketplace Operations
Understanding how the Kingpin marketplace operates behind the scenes — from listing creation to order fulfillment, dispute resolution, and community moderation.
Listing Lifecycle
Every fingerboard deck, truck, wheel set, or accessory begins its journey on the marketplace as a seller-created listing.
How Listings Work
Creation
Sellers create listings with photos, descriptions, condition details, and pricing information
Review
Automated and manual review processes ensure compliance with marketplace policies
Publication
Approved listings go live and become searchable and discoverable by buyers
Management
Sellers can edit pricing, update photos, add information, or mark items as sold
Seller Control & Responsibilities
As a seller, you maintain full control over pricing strategy, item descriptions, shipping options, and inventory management. However, all listings must comply with marketplace policies. Sellers are legally responsible for the accuracy of their listings and fulfillment of sales.
Listing Compliance & Review
All listings are subject to automated and manual review to ensure policy compliance. Non-compliant listings may be flagged for review, temporarily hidden pending clarification, removed for violations, or escalated to enforcement teams for serious infractions.
Note: Listing approval does not constitute marketplace endorsement or verification of item authenticity. Buyers should conduct their own due diligence.
Order Flow
From checkout to delivery, every order follows a standardized process designed to protect both buyers and sellers.
Purchase & Payment Authorization
Buyer completes checkout and payment is authorized through our secure payment processor. Funds are held by the payment processor pending successful delivery.
Seller Notification
Seller receives instant notification via email and dashboard with order details, shipping address, and fulfillment deadline.
Package Preparation
Seller carefully packages the item according to marketplace guidelines and prepares it for shipment within stated handling time.
Shipment & Tracking
Item shipped with tracking information provided to buyer. Both parties can monitor shipment progress.
Delivery & Completion
Order delivered and confirmed. After inspection period with no disputes, payment is released to seller minus applicable fees.
Important: The marketplace facilitates transactions between buyers and sellers but is not a party to the sale. Sellers are legally responsible for delivering items as described.
Payment Handling
Secure, transparent payment processing protects every transaction on the Kingpin marketplace.
Buyer Protection
Your payment is held securely by our payment processor until you receive and confirm your item
Seller Assurance
Get paid promptly after successful delivery with guaranteed funds release following inspection period
Dispute Resolution
Funds held safely during any dispute investigation and resolution process to protect both parties
Payment Hold System
When a buyer makes a purchase, their payment is authorized and held securely by our PCI-compliant payment processor. These funds remain held until delivery is confirmed and the inspection period expires. This payment hold system protects buyers by ensuring they receive their items before sellers receive payment, while also protecting sellers by authorizing funds before shipment.
Payout Schedule & Process
- 1Initial Hold Period: Payment authorized and held by processor upon purchase
- 2Delivery Confirmation: Tracking confirms delivery or buyer manually confirms receipt
- 3Inspection Window: Buyer has 3-7 days to inspect and report any issues
- 4Payout Release: Funds transferred to seller after successful inspection period
- 5Transfer Timing: Payouts typically complete within 2-5 business days
Seller Note: Payout timing may vary based on your payment processor, bank, and local regulations. Ensure your payout information is accurate to avoid delays.
Shipping Operations
Proper shipping practices ensure items arrive safely and on time.
Seller Responsibilities
- Secure packaging — Use appropriate protective materials (bubble wrap, padding, sturdy boxes) to prevent damage during normal transit
- Timely shipment — Ship within stated handling time (typically 1-3 business days after purchase confirmation)
- Tracking provision — Always provide tracking numbers when available through carrier services
- Insurance (recommended) — Consider purchasing shipping insurance for high-value items to protect against loss or damage
Buyer Responsibilities
- Accurate address — Provide complete, correct shipping information; buyers are responsible for address errors
- Availability — Be available to receive packages or arrange delivery as needed
- Prompt inspection — Inspect packages immediately upon arrival and document any damage before opening
- Package preservation — Retain packaging materials if filing damage claims with carrier or marketplace
International Shipping
Cross-border shipments require customs declarations and may incur duties, taxes, or customs fees (buyer's responsibility). International shipping typically takes 1-4 weeks depending on destination and carrier. Sellers must accurately complete customs forms to avoid delays or returns.
Delivery & Confirmation
Orders are considered delivered based on tracking data, signature confirmation, or marketplace-defined time thresholds.
Carrier Tracking
Carrier tracking system shows delivered status with timestamp
Signature Confirmation
Recipient signature captured by carrier for high-value items
Manual Confirmation
Buyer confirms receipt through marketplace interface
Auto-Confirmation
Automatic confirmation after defined period with no disputes filed
Inspection Period
Buyers have 3-7 days after delivery (depending on item value and shipping method) to inspect items and report any issues. During this inspection window, buyers should verify the item matches the listing description, check condition and functionality, confirm all included accessories are present, and document any damage or discrepancies with photos.
Important: Issues must be reported within the inspection period. After this window expires and payment is released to the seller, disputes become significantly more difficult to resolve.
Disputes & Resolution
When transactions don't go as expected, the marketplace provides structured dispute resolution tools and processes.
Common Dispute Scenarios
Item Not Received
Package shows delivered but buyer reports non-receipt, or item never shipped by seller
Item Not as Described
Received item doesn't match listing description, photos, or stated condition
Damaged in Transit
Item arrives with shipping damage despite seller using proper packaging
Wrong Item Shipped
Seller shipped incorrect item or buyer received someone else's order
Dispute Resolution Process
- 1
Attempt Direct Resolution
Contact the other party directly through marketplace messaging. Many issues can be resolved quickly through communication.
- 2
Gather Evidence
Take clear photos of packaging and items, save all message communications, document tracking information, and collect receipts or other relevant documentation.
- 3
File Formal Dispute
Open a dispute through your order dashboard within the allowed timeframe, providing all evidence and a clear explanation.
- 4
Investigation & Response
Both parties will be asked to provide their perspective and supporting evidence. The marketplace may request additional information.
- ✓
Resolution Decision
Marketplace reviews all evidence and issues a fair resolution based on policies and evidence provided. Decisions are typically final.
Note: The marketplace serves as a neutral mediator but cannot guarantee specific outcomes. Resolution decisions are based on available evidence and compliance with stated policies.

Problematic listings, messages, or reviews removed with notification explaining violation
Temporary Restrictions
Loss of specific privileges (selling, buying, messaging) for repeat violations or moderate infractions
Account Suspension
Temporary suspension of all account access pending investigation of serious violations
Permanent Termination
Severe violations, fraud, or persistent policy breaches result in permanent account ban with no reinstatement
Platform Availability
The Kingpin marketplace strives for maximum uptime while acknowledging occasional maintenance may be necessary.
Our Commitment
Impact on Active Transactions
Platform downtime does not invalidate active transactions or orders. Funds held by payment processors remain secure. Seller handling time requirements are automatically paused during confirmed platform outages. Users will be notified of any extended maintenance windows in advance when possible.
Note: While we strive for maximum uptime, the marketplace is provided "as is" and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. See Terms of Service for full availability terms.
